Does Your Chili Have What it Takes?

Help us take a stand against hunger by entering your best pot of Chili

Hunger affects 10% of the world’s population.

Hunger is strongly connected with poverty. As of August, Anson County has a population 24,902 people with 19.5% of Anson County’s population experiencing poverty. That’s approximately 4,855.89 families or individuals that experiences or runs the chance of experiencing hunger.

The Garden House aims to strengthen the relations in Anson County. This year we have chosen to help fight hunger and spread holiday cheer by helping feed families for Thanksgiving.

Our goal this year is to feed 10 families for Thanksgiving.

Each family will receive their choice of 4 sides and 1 meat and a bread of their choice.

Meet Last Year’s Cook off Winner and Runner-Ups

1st Place

Our first place winner really swept the crowd with a one of a kind chili. Owner of 5 points Junction, Dyann Stroud prepared a deer meat chili, Deer2BDifferent winning the stellar trophy and Grand Prize of $100.00!

2nd Place Winner Local Non-profit, Serenity Lakeview Farms Rescue and Rehabilitation swayed the remaining crowd with a Hawaiian Style Chili.

With the seeds sown from our community we were able to raise just shy of our desired goal of $2,000. With the money raised we were able to provide meals for 10 families.

We thank all sponsors, participants and attendees for each playing a huge role in making our very first event possible.

All remaining chili was donated and delivered to Wadesboro’s local homeless shelter.
